Little Bees: A Free Knitted Headband Pattern

Buzz buzz buzz…what’s that sound? That’s the sound of your needles flying through this simple yet dynamic knitted headband pattern! Check out the written instructions below or follow along with my step-by-step video tutorial.

Little Bees Headband 

Materials:

1 ball worsted weight yarn in black [color A]

1 ball worsted weight yarn in yellow [color B]

Size 6 knitting needles

Scissors

Tapestry needle

Row counter

Measurements

Circumference: 21.5”

Width: 3”

Abbreviations

CO— Cast on

K— knit

P—purl

Rep— repeat

St(s)—stich(es)

BO—bind off/cast off

Tension

20 sts x 27 rows = 4”

Instructions 

CO 17 stitches using the intarsia cast on

Row 1: K3 sts with color A, K11 sts with color B, K3 sts with color A

(***Continue to work in this color pattern for the remainder of the pattern***)

Row 2: K2, P13, K2

Row 3: K7, P1, K1, P1, K7

Row 4: K2, P4, K2, P1, K2, P4, K2

Row 5: K5, P3, K1, P3, K5

Row 6: K2, P13, K2

Row 7: Knit all

Rows 8-9: Rep rows 6 & 7

Row 10: K2, P13, K2

Continue pattern until desired length is achieved.  If your headband is close to fitting but another 10 row repeat will be too much, just knit rows 6-7 until it’s long enough.

BO all stitches in the intarsia bind off

To Make Up

Seam together the two ends using mattress stitch.  Weave in all all yarn ends.
